Happy New Year! December was a bit of a slow month due to all the holiday festivities, but let’s dive into the few things I managed to get done.
The Electrum Archive
I’ve published the first official adventure for The Electrum Archive! It is called The Grafter’s Tomb and is a low level dungeon crawl with some fun Frankenstein-style stitched-together monsters! :) Ava and I had a lot of fun putting it together and I can’t wait to hear the stories people will have about running it.
It is available to all backers and everyone who pre-orders on BackerKit and will be part of TEA issue 02 when it comes out in a few months!
DURF
I also wrote a new draft of the DURF Expanded rules, adding in and updating the optional archetypes found in the Character Archetypes supplement. It also adds four new archetypes: the Brawler, Ranger, Bard, and Alchemist! Along with these new archetypes also comes a simple alchemy system for all players to use to brew potions from ingredients found in the underworld.
If you want to see these new rules and want to support me while I continue refining the draft for DURF Expanded, consider supporting my Patreon :)
Dream Zine
I’ve been writing a little contribution to a dream-themed zine I’m putting together with my fellow members of the Good Sleep Collective :) I’m excited to see where it goes! I’ll probably post more about this when it gets closer to being released…
Odds & Ends
I’ve been playing a bunch of Magic the Gathering cube lately. I’ve put together this cube that can be drafted with 2-4 players and been having a blast with it. If you know any fun common or uncommon cards that would fit the archetypes of the cube, please let me know!
To go along with the cube I’ve programmed a little cube manager in the Godot engine that parses the playtest data I’ve been collecting. This was mostly just a fun coding exercise to figure out how to pull card data from the internet, but I’ve been using it to calculate average win rates of cards and finding out which cards are often drafted together. Magic: The Gathering data analysis might be the most nerdy thing I’ve ever done, but it has been really fun :)
A friend of mine has bought the Frosthaven board game and we’ve started a weekly game to play through its campaign. It took a bit to get used to, so I’ve downloaded the Gloomhaven video game on my Steamdeck to get a hang of it a little faster. So far it has been a blast!
That’s it for now, thank you so much for reading :)
Talk soon!
