November was delightfully busy!
DURF Jam 2023
The DURF Jam wrapped up halfway through this month and has produced a bunch of wonderful creations! I did not expect so many people to join the jam (the amount of submissions doubled since last year), but it is good to see that DURF is still alive and well and people are as excited as ever to tinker with it! I highly recommend you take a look at the submissions, since they contain a great variety of different things, ranging from new character options to fun adventures, even some complete reworks of the system to better fit various settings.
I created a small one-page dungeon for this year’s jam, called Moonhill Garden. It features a vain, aging bachelor looking to create a potion of youth, a druid petrified by the bachelor’s pet cockatrice, a depressed dragon, and tired undead who just want to go back to sleep. Go check it out if that sounds like something you would enjoy!
Speaking of DURF, the 0.4 version of DURF Expanded has been released on my Patreon. It adds a pretty sizable treasure appendix that lets you easily generate treasure hoards and magical weapons. So if you want to support me and see these drafts before I release the game sometime next year, go check out the patreon :)
The Electrum Archive
I have finished writing all bits for TEA issue 02! This means I have spent most of my time this month making new illustrations for it. Here are some of the things I made:
Beyond the Pale
I also had the pleasure of helping out Yochai Gal with his new Cairn adventure Beyond the Pale. It is a really cool project, and I’m happy it is doing so well on Kickstarter. You can check it out here!
Errant Guide Screen
The Errant Guide Screen also got finally released! I worked on the illustration for this a while back, and I think it is the thing I’m most proud of so far. It was a joy to put this thing together and think of how it would all fit. The screen is made up of four panels, each one corresponding to one of the Turn types in Errant; Travel, Exploration, Initiative, and Downtime.
The only problem is that it is a terrible illustration to properly post online, since its dimensions do not really work on most screens. So I’ll post it here in both its entirety and as separate cropped panels in case it gets all compressed by Substack :) Enjoy!
Do you have a link for the Errant Guide Screen? I love the artwork!
