This month’s newsletter will be short since I still have to finish my DURF Jam submission.
The Electrum Archive
I've spent most of October rewriting the second adventure of The Electrum Archive issue 02. The adventure, called The Tower of Tursar Settru, is a heist scenario. It sets the stage for players to get into a tower of a warlock and steal an important item from his vault. Writing a heist was a first for me, so I hope people will like it :) One of the things I read to help me figure out what an OSR-adjacent heist scenario could look like was the fantastic scenario Kidnap the Archpriest by Skerples.
DURF Jam 2023
This year’s DURF Jam has been going for a good three weeks already and is nearing its end. There have been a bunch of great entries already, and I’m hoping to finish mine soon. I didn’t have a lot of spare time to work on it due to trying to finish TEA#02, but I have slowly chipped away at a little one-page dungeon for it. I’m taking this last week to finish it up. So wish me luck :)
Odds & Ends
It was my birthday yesterday and one of the presents I got was a copy of Monsters, Aliens, and Holes in the Ground by Stu Horvath. I’ve been looking forward to this book ever since I heard that Stu was working on it a few years ago. So I’m very excited to dive into it.
I’ve been messing around with a small Magic: the Gathering Cube after not having curated one for a few years. It’s been really fun to create a little bit slower draft environment and focus more on synergy than purely powerful cards. You can check out the cube here.
My weekly TEA campaign has moved beyond the adventures I wrote for issue 02. Now, after having fled the City of Titan Port after pulling off the heist in the tower of Tursar Settru, the party is laying low in Bara Mar, the City of Towers. While spending some time there, they picked up a new job and are now exploring an underwater eldership a day off the coast of the Azure Ocean. The submerged space-ship wreckage is a heavily modified version of the Submerged Spire of Sarpedon the Shaper by Ben L of Through Ultan’s Door fame.
That’s all for now, thank you for reading!
Talk soon!
