It’s a short roundup for October since I posted the last one halfway through the month.
The Electrum Archive
Since my last newsletter I’ve sent out almost all the physical copies I printed to retailers. The international mail around here is a bit slow, but I expect most of them to be available in various shops by mid-November. I’ll update the itch page with up-to-date info on where to buy physical copies, so keep an eye on that :)
I have also begun outlining the second issue in more detail. I’m very excited to get started on writing it.
DURF Jam 2022
The DURF Jam is still ongoing but there have been some great submissions already!
I started writing a downtime procedure for DURF as my entry but quickly realised that I would need more time to get that right. So I’ve pivoted to creating a new DURF dungeon.
The dungeon contains a sacred garden where a magical flower grows. Cultists of Ashmec, the Worm of Misery, have taken over the place and are tearing out the magical flowers to brew a magical protein shake for a grub they are trying to grow into a world-eating monster.
Odds and Ends
I started playing the Flesh and Blood TCG. There is a local shop where they play every Friday evening and it’s a lot of fun. It’s a nice pivot away from Magic the Gathering and fills the competitive card game-shaped hole in my heart after Magic showed they cared very little about their players and game. I’m excited to dive deeper into it and meet new folks at this game store. I’ve recently sold a bunch of the expensive magic cards I hadn’t played with for a while. This resulted in a nice bit of cash, which I’ll probably use to pick up some fun Flesh and Blood cards.
I’m currently playing a fun ranger deck, helmed by Lexi, that charges up her arrows to deal a bunch of hard-to-block damage.
After a holiday break, I ran a game in my ongoing Lancer campaign again. It’s still very different from what I normally run and I can’t be arsed to remember most of the rules, but I feel like running it is finally starting to click with me. I’m happy I decided to run it to break out of my usual sandbox OSR/NSR comfort zone. I don’t think I would run another Lancer game after the campaign wraps up (which is still some time away), but it’s good to have experienced it :)
That’s all for now, I’ll see you again at the start of December :)
Stay safe!
