DURF Expanded has launched!
Last time I wrote one of these, I was wrapping up the art for the DURF Expanded preview. Now, the Kickstarter already sits at a nearly 300% funded and multiple stretch goals unlocked! The response to the book and the new rules have been incredible, and I’m very excited to continue working on this after the crowdfunding campaign wraps up!
If you haven’t checked out the campaign yet, you can do so here.
So far we’ve unlocked a bunch of cool adventures (the DURF adventure zine will now be more than 70 pages!) and we are close to unlocking a big update to the included bestiary!
So consider checking out the Kickstarter campaign :)
Other Projects
While the Kickstarter took over most of my waking hours, I have managed to get some work done on other projects since I last wrote an update here.
I’ve still been working on the layout for the Legacy of Kain RPG: Scourge of the Sarafan. Working on that has been really cool since I get to work more with some pretty cool artists like the ever wonderful Artyom Trakhanov. Speaking of which, Artyom has a comic out for Shortbox Comics Fair this year! It is called THERE COMES FOR YOU A DAY and since I’ve talked a bunch about great comics in this newsletter over the years I assume you might be interested in it as well :)
This might be the first year of the Shortbox Comics Fair where I don’t buy a whole lot, purely due to being flat broke and waiting for the Kickstarter to wrap up before I have some disposable income, so if you can, consider supporting these cool artists! The festival runs until the 31st so don’t miss it!
Another project I’ve been involved with in the last month has been Flight of Fancy by my friend Peter, who you might know of his work on the Mausritter adventure Feathertail Falls. They're launching a new mausritter project during Mausritter Month called Flights of Fancy, and I’ll be writing one of the stretch goal adventures!
Books and Games
The last weeks have been marked by this persistent undertone of anxiety which comes with running a Kickstarter project, so I try to give myself some grace and take more moments to read or play games.
On the books front, I’ve been reading The Expanse, by James A. Corey. I’ve burned through the 6th and 7th book and I am now reading the final book in the series. It has been a lot of fun. The hard sci-fi adventure about a spaceship crew navigating interstellar politics mixed with the weird Lovecraftian threat of beings from a higher dimension slowly tearing reality apart has been a great ride. So I’m excited to see how it’ll end.
I’ve also read DOWN NORTH, WHERE NO ONE GOES by Ramonkey Perales. I’ve long been a fan of Ramonkey’s work since I stumbled upon Ash Corvus in 2019, so I’ve been looking forward to this new work ever since he shared some sketches on Bluesky.
The comic has this vibrant quality to it and I highly recommend it if you like Gene Wolfe-esque works of science-fantasy.
As far as games go, I have mostly been playing games with my partner. We recently played through the original Halo: Combat Evolved and are now playing through Bioshock. It has been really cool to revisit these games and appreciate how much they did within the constraints of the technology at the time. Halo was especially fantastic. It was very funny to see that atrocious remaster trailer drop a few days after we finished replaying the original.
Anyway, my apologies if this newsletter was a bit more scattered compared to the others. Running the DURF Kickstarter has taken a lot out of me this month. So go back it, so this inner turmoil isn’t all for nothing ;)
Stay safe and I’ll talk to you again soon!

PS: I’ll be attending Dragonmeet in London again this year, in case any of you would like to come say hi :)
